Creativity Takes You to Interesting Places

Week in Review: 2.26.16-3.3.16

Well, that may be true for paintings but not for LEGO™ creations that you take apart!!

So Day 51 ended up being worked on for a total of 5 days. The quote, by Jennifer Ueckert, for Day 51 was: "When I am looking at my project unfinished... It is just that, unfinished. I have learned the most important thing of all is that it will come together in the end."  I also wrote on Instagram about Day 51: "Maybe I will save this one and come back to it another time. I often find I wish I had more time to keep playing."
Well, I did. There hasn't been a piece yet that has spoken to me like this one did. There was just something about it, it had so much potential. It was telling me there was so much more that wanted to be done with it....4 more days to be exact. 

Day 2: I knew that I just wanted to spend more time on the piece. I really didn't have too much more direction than that, I just wanted to play with it more. And it was interesting as things moved around and I let some things go that I liked but just weren't working in the space. 

Day 3: The idea to add onto the shop small piece in the back was just calling to me. I had these really cool shelves in there and I had thought, how cool, I could add clothes and accessories. I really enjoyed the man in the mirror. 

Day 4: Those stairs. I almost stopped the process today but just had to add onto those stairs leading to nowhere. I really like this one - especially the water fountain. I almost gave up on trying to find the right pieces to make it look accurate but glad I persisted.

​Day 5: It was a combo, I really had thought, man some vehicles would be cool, and I really thought, man I don't want to take this apart yet. The bikes were particularly fun to make a rack for.​

So that was my 5 day building process. I am so happy that I took a risk and kept going with the piece, even though that isn't what I normally do. It was interesting as my brain would definitely continue working on it in between sessions. It was also interesting to see things evolve and move and change and grow. It is a little sad that unlike a painting, I'm not holding onto it so it will be forever stopped at this interesting place. I hope that if your intuition is telling you to do something, even if it might be different, you follow that lead, it might take you to an interesting place.​
