DISCOVER 4 THINGS ABOUT ME
1
I need a lot of grounding to stay out of anxiety, fear, doubt, and worry.
I'm pretty sure that's why I became a Qi Gong and several kinds of Yoga teacher. Nature also supports me, along with hot baths, being around animals, meditation, and releasing and receiving walks in the labyrinth.
At the end of 2018 I moved from the suburbs to an hour northeast of Houston to live in the country at Braving Star Farms. As an Enneagram Type 5, I have never been happier, and it even inspired my first foray into writing fiction, The School of Mysteries. I also love being able to offer Equine-Facilitated Learning with my herd and flock.

Self-compassion used to be like a foreign language to me.
I had the worst negative self-talk and thanks to many years of practice, and therapy, I have developed and strengthened a new voice that helps me honor and love my continually recovering perfectionist self.
The Self-Compassion Retreat was the first ever Daring Discoveries' offering in 2016, and it has become an annual tradition because I love sharing its transformational power with others and I need the dedicated time to reinforce and strengthen my practice each year. I also wrote Self-Compassion Stories, which is a forty-day art journal experience in growing self-love and self-trust.

I love creating and growing my creativity.
Creative practice is now just how I live my life and why I lead others most years through 100 Days of Building Serendipitous Creativity using my book Practice Pilgrimage.
My current practice is making a daily art journaling page. As a SoulCollage® Facilitator I already have way too many cards so this is the perfect way to still be collaging without increasing my personal deck. My practices and my journal are the creative womb for my writing projects. And if you are a fellow writer I love gathering all kinds of writer friends every year at The Writing Chrysalis Retreat.

I struggle to play and rest well, so I have to be intentional with both.
In 2016 I let my inner child play every day with a 365-project where I built a creation out of LEGO bricks and posted it daily on Instagram. Now, when I'm not leading a retreat or writing, you'll find me down at the art barn playing in my journal or at the actual barn playing with my animals.
Practicing menstrual cycle awareness, restorative yoga, yoga nidra, sabbath, and taking daily tea breaks are all ways I try to rest well. If you want to know more about my tea journey (which ended up taking me to a tea learning center in Taiwan) you can read my Tea Wayfarer story that was published in Global Tea Hut.
I love serving tea at my events and retreats.
