10/4/2016 0 Comments Creativity Forgives366 Days of Building Creativity Week 40 in Review: September 30th-October 6thThankfully, creativity forgives. It forgives me when I doubted I would be able to come up with enough creations for a whole year. In fact, it has decided to show me that through my daily commitment, I can now have multiple creation ideas daily. Recently I’ll work on one idea and then realize something else I really want to do for the quote, so I’ll put the first aside and it usually can be worked on later for a future quote (Happened on days 272 and 273 and days 279 and 280). I learned through Jen Lara and her “Be Creative” Blog Series that fluency is one of the five main attributes of creativity. So I guess my fluency has been increasing. I’ve been learning with my creative endeavors and just in my regular life that we have to forgive the past, and also let go of things to truly become who we are now. My negative thinking and doubts don’t serve me anymore. Just like in my relationships who I used to be or how someone else used to be has to be let go of to make room for what I know now and who I am now. I know things about creativity now and have been learning it's language and that it truly is benevolent and not something I have to fear. It wants me to succeed. It loves delighting me. It is something I have to pay attention to and work hard at, like any relationship, but we have each other’s backs. We are on the same team. I know I have doubted creativity and actually neglected it for many years, but I think I have wooed it back. I have invested in it and it is investing in me. Creativity is always there for you when you want it, it is just whether or not you are investing in it. Days 274-280Day 274 "When we give ourselves permission to fail, at the same time, we give ourselves permission to excel." -Eloise Ristad Day 275 “The artist brain is the sensory brain: sight and sound, smell and taste, touch. These are the elements of magic, and magic is the elemental stuff of art. In filling the well, think magic. Think delight. Think fun. Do what intrigues you, explore what interests you, think mystery.” -Julia Cameron Day 276 "Are you willing to give up who you are today for what you can become?" -Gwen Fox Day 277 "Fill a canvas with all the things you hope you find out that God is, when you meet him someday." -Shauna Niequist Day 278 "We’re holding back, putting our art on pause, biding our time with mediocrity and waiting for someone to invites us onstage before we share our best work. What a cowardly way to live…Maybe, and I’m sincerely starting to believe this, art is anything you do that requires care and craft. So whatever you do, whether it’s painting or plumbing, you are an artist. Or at least, you can be, if you treat your occupation as art — a true vocation, a calling." -Jeff Goins Day 279 "At some level, 'this might not work' is at the heart of all important projects, of everything new and worth doing. And it can paralyze us into inaction, into watering down our art and into failing to ship." -Seth Godin Day 280
"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." -Vincent Van Gogh
