You are gathering your various inner parts, conscious and less conscious, lovable and irritating, beautiful and shadowy, and then you ‘sing’ over them so they can transform into a freer and more vibrant soul.” One of the things I love about myself, and that can be really hard about myself, is that I'm a developer.
When I learn something new, I don't allow it to just stay surface, I take the time to develop it. For example, I took a zentangling class at the Houston Jung Center in February 2015. Then in May and June of 2015, I committed to making one Zentangle a day, based off of Beckah Krahula’s book One Zentangle a Day: A 6-Week Course in Creative Drawing for Relaxation, Inspiration, and Fun. It was part of my chosen practice to help me with Brené’s guidepost: “Cultivating Creativity and Letting Go of Comparison.” Then, when that was done, I made myself a little Zentangle kit with tiles and pens that I could take with me whenever the urge to tangle struck. In 2016, one of my monthly Creative Play Workshops was on the topic of zentangling and, of course, I did more tangling and got new resources as “development” to prepare. And then if you’ve been following along, I submitted a Pearland Pear-Scape Pear proposal with Zentangle design and my colorful Zentangle garden was chosen. So I zentangled a giant pear. Who knew that zentangling would take me all those places?! So I love my developer strength, but it also means I have to be careful what I chose to do because I will keep learning and developing it, and that can take a lot of time and energy! The latest class I took at the Jung Center was, An Introduction to SoulCollage®: A Bridge to the Divine, led by Deborah Lindeen, MA, LPC-S, ATR-BC (If you are interested she is leading a 6-week series beginning in June at The Jung Center). I had no idea what I was getting into, but I love collage and all things soul have been speaking to me, plus a CEC for my license, I was in! And now many magazine cut-outs later and buying supplies and the book to use at home, I’m developing what I learned and I will be sharing it with you here in the coming weeks as part of a special series to go along with my Wholehearted Living 10-week Course. *Please note, I am NOT a SoulCollage® Faciliator (as of July 2020 I am). I am just applying information for my personal use from a program and Seena B. Frost’s book, SoulCollage® Evolving. For more information please visit http://www.soulcollage.com
