9/15/2016 0 Comments Creativity and Soul Care366 Days of Building Creativity Week 37 in Review: September 9th-September 15thThis week was a raw and vulnerable week for me. Changes in what I've been eating and drinking have led me to recognize I try to comfort myself with what I put into my body more than I had even realized. Also starting a new training which was all weekend left me not recharged or ready for the week. So needless to say I've been experiencing a lot of the more uncomfortable feelings and my tear ducts have been getting plenty of action. So this week, I've been learning I am a creative soul, and creativity is care for my soul. I worked a lot on an art journal that is very personal and sacred to me, that speaks truths to me about slowing down, playing, my spirit, God, love. It is a reminder of things my soul needs to hear and loves to remember. And I've been trying to listen and learn from my soul. My soul has been telling me it is tired of worrying what other people think. It's telling me that all feelings are okay and reminding me of what I already have learned thanks to Brené Brown, you can't numb selectively, if you numb the more uncomfortable feelings, you are also numbing the joy. It's also telling me I am okay, no matter what, and will be okay. It's telling me I've made progress with giving myself grace and compassion and to keep going. I think my soul has been speaking through my creations this week too as I love how I've been using my own artwork (except the I Am Okay sign, which was purchased from a local artist) to supplement my creations, which honestly, I haven't felt I had a whole lot to give to. But that's okay and I'm giving myself permission for it to be enough. With life we have to learn to go with the flow and also to make time and care for what our soul needs and wants to do. A little can go a long way. Not getting defeated but showing up everyday no matter what is so important and just doing what we can. What is your soul telling you? What does it need? I am a creative soul. I am okay. I am enough. Days 253 - 259Day 253 "Creativity embeds knowledge so that it can become practice. I move what I'm learning from my head to my heart through my hands." -Brenè Brown Day 254 "May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children." -Rainer Maria Rilke Day 255 "I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colors. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns." -Winston Churchill Day 256 "Resistance is from within. It is self-generated and self-perpetuated. Resistance is the enemy within." -Steven Pressfield Day 257 "Follow your bliss and doors will open where there were no doors before." -Joseph Campbell Day 258 “I think that we can’t go around measuring our goodness by what we don’t do, by what we deny ourselves, what we resist, and who we exclude. I think we’ve got to measure goodness by what we embrace, what we create, and who we include.” – the film Chocolat Day 259
"Trust your longings. They aren't random. They aren't silly. They aren't selfish or arrogant. They are telling you about the life your soul wants to lead." -Tara Mohr
