5/24/2017 0 Comments Creativity and A Resilient SpiritI made this card to help me with struggle. SoulCollage® cards are for personal use and SoulCollage® does not advocate infringing on the copyrighted work of others in any way so my card cannot be shared here, but on my card is an eye peering out through the cosmos at the top, and at the bottom is a tiger with a swan and butterfly balanced on it in a garden setting. Brené says we are wired for strength and for struggle. From the first time I looked at the reasons I numb during a collage as part of Brené’s course on her guideposts for Wholehearted Living, I’ve actually worked hard to change the causes of suffering that I could.
Yes, I’m still working on the habit of checking email and text messages too often, and stress, fear, and worry are something I have to keep in check constantly, but some of the things, like being too busy, or giving too much, or no margin time, I’ve actually really transformed. But I still struggle with causes of suffering that seem beyond my capacity to change. My heart is wired super tender towards animals, it always has been, and any being, human or animal, that is abused or mistreated or trapped, really hurts my heart. I do the things I can by not supporting factory farming and financially helping with anti-sex trafficking organizations, but I still struggle with is that enough. I often feel for all the suffering of defenseless beings on an everyday basis, and I long for all beings to be happy and free. So instead of trying to ignore the issues, or numb the issues, I allowed my feelings and made this card to express my heart, and hopefully find some resiliency and strength. It is about a longing for peace among all beings and creatures, a return to the Garden, if you will. I actually don’t fully comprehend it, but it helps me feel not alone, and that there are witnesses who also see and hold the pain in our world. That there is more beyond what we can see as only a glimpse now. I want to help write a beautiful ending, and I know I can’t do that alone, and I can’t do that by numbing. So this is my resilient strength card, and I am practicing. If you are able, I hope you will come practice with us next Tuesday as we explore numbing and comfort creatively together. *Please note, I am NOT a SoulCollage® Faciliator (as of July 2020 I am). I am just applying information for my personal use from a program and Seena B. Frost’s book, SoulCollage® Evolving.
