4/22/2016 1 Comment Creativity and Trust366 Days of Creativity Week in Review: April 15th-21st & Days 106-112 What have I learned about creativity this week from playing with LEGO bricks everyday and reading art quotes? You have to make time and you have to fiercely guard it. And it's not enough to make time, then you actually have to do the art work. Yes, art is work, and play, and many things. And it's not enough to just do the work, you have to continue it and trust in the process. Even when everything is a mess and you wonder will it ever get better and why did you even start and it's going to be such a waste. Especially then. Especially then. You have to keep going and push past all the doubts and fears because nothing is wasted. I'm in the final stages of finishing an art e-course and it's so hard. I find myself wanting to finish (I have a deadline for the pieces), and yet I know that pressure is choking me. So I keep going back to my intentions to play and have fun and I try to hold looser. And I'm still not done, but feel like I only have a couple of more layers after I've spent so much time and paint. It's scary to end too. It's scary to commit. But I'm hoping like my LEGO creations I will keep painting and layering and trusting and it will come together and show me what it wants to be. I'm proud of myself. I've done art this week. You can see that even reflected more in my LEGO art. I've also seen and experienced other's art this week. I've also been up and down, protective, and a mess. Everything is tied together in magical serendipitous ways and I am grateful and often wonderstruck. How did you experience art this week? Love that picture of you and love how you lean into discomfort. Looking forward to seeing what emerges!
